A Great End to 2025

As we reach the end of 2025, I am made to look back on all of my achievements, goals, and other such things and, to be honest, it wasn't the best of years.

I went through quite a few things I didn't expect to come, and I went through probably the biggest disappointment in my life that made me question so many things and change my mindset a hundred times over. This past year, did I achieve much? Not particularly. The only high points of this year that really count are that I finally obtained a steady job after years of unemployment, and I finally finished my first book and published it as something to be proud of.

Some might say surviving the year to see the next would be another, but survival isn't and shouldn't be something to praise for a person that has lived in survival mode most of his life. If there's any lessons I've taken away from this past year, it's these;

1. Even if I didn't achieve most of the goals I set for myself this year, what matters is I still tried on many occasions.

2. Sometimes the greatest journeys we take in life are ones we have to take alone.

3. I am a far stronger person than I realised.

4. It doesn't matter if you haven't become a better man within a year. What matters is that, piece by piece, I am better than I used to be.

5. Life isn't a race, it's a gentle walk. A steady hike. And it's okay to stop for a snack break, a water break, a little rest.

6. And finally, if I can finish one book this year, I sure as hell can finish two.

And so with that, I close 2025 knowing this... I want to be better than I was last year, and I'm going to damn well try. No matter how much may not go my way, I know there is plenty that I can control. There's so many things I can still do for myself that has no choice but to go my way, because nothing else can change that course.

Goodbye 2025, I will not look back on you fondly. However, I will be grateful for the lessons you gave me.
